Cleveland Vicon is founded at East 21st Street in Downtown Cleveland by Don and Carol Poe at the request of Sargent & Co., who wanted a reliable distributor in Northeast Ohio.
1979 - 1981 |
On January 1, 1979, Sue Poe (Sue Flowers), the eldest of Don and Carol's four children joined the company. Over the next three years, she would be joined by her three brothers, Greg, Steve, and Doug, as well as longtime family friend Jon McKnight, in taking permanent positions at Cleveland Vicon.
With the construction of the Cleveland State University's Wolstein Center at the location on East 21st Street, Cleveland Vicon moved to 4540 Willow Parkway in Cuyahoga Heights. This move allowed Cleveland Vicon to obtain a larger space just outside of downtown Cleveland with easy access to most areas in Northeast Ohio.
Cleveland Vicon opens up its first branch in Canton, allowing the company to reach more customers and serve existing customers more effectively. Branch manager, Rick Royer AHC, quickly formed a great team of competent, seasoned employees.
40 years after its founding, Cleveland Vicon moves once again -- this time just next door -- to its current home at 4550 Willow Parkway. This facility offers more room to handle the expanding business volume.
Chris Flowers (Chris LoGuidice), daughter of Sue Flowers, and cousin Tom Poe, become the first of her generation to start full-time work at Cleveland Vicon, turning the company, officially, into a three-generation family business.
Cleveland Vicon opens its third branch, this one in Youngstown, Ohio to continue to better serve its customers. Jeff Rowlands joins the team as the branch manager and grows his staff.
Cleveland Vicon continues to provide the Northeast Ohio area with the best quality, service, and expertise that the industry has to offer.
